I have been writing a series of posts about a trip my family took to a local art gallery in which I asked each of my children to research an artist and painting to be displayed at the exhibit.  While I studied the method used and the installation of the Picture Lights , the kids enjoyed learning about and sharing their knowledge of the local art exhibit.

The last one that they chose was a painting by 19th century painter Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze.  He was a German born painter that moves to the United States to study art.  He was famous for painting George Washington crossing the Delaware.  He came to America several times to do his research in museums to study the designs of George Washington uniform of the time.  The painting was actually painted in Germany.  The painter used the Rhine River as the model of the Delaware River.

Learning to speak Italian is something you really must add to your list of things to do before visiting Italy. As with any country you may wish to visit, it is always a wise decision to know at least the basic things to say, as in greeting someone good morning, saying excuse me, thank you, or goodbye, asking for directions to the nearest train or bus station or airport, and asking for the time. Learning to speak italian does not mean you have to master the language and be able to present a certificate or diploma proving such. Those basic things will suffice. With that knowledge you can enjoy a trip to Italy better. You may just find yourself beaming after you order pizza and pasta at an Italian restaurant and the waiter actually understands you perfectly and you are able to compliment the chef on his wonderful recipe.

Being taught online is one of my new favorite things.  I love the idea of just getting on my computer and being able to learn something as cool as the guitar.  I know that I have been slacking on my ability to learn more guitar because it’s just so hard to find a good teacher.  And everyone that I know who plays guitar isn’t that good at showing me stuff.  I started out just learning basic chords for guitar.  But now I want to take it to a whole new level and find out much more about the inside and out of this great instrument.

I just did not understand it at all, and I really did not have the desire to learn because of the costs associated with piano playing.

It’s time to learn to dance, not just any kind of dancing. I’m sure we are all capable of getting out on the dance floor and moving to the music but can we really consider it dancing? Or just swaying to the music? If your anything like me you have two left feet, and prefer to embarrass yourself at home rather than in public.

When I read about ballroom dancing lessons on DVD, I was so excited. Learn how to dance ballroom style at home and then go dancing with my friends and really “wow” them. What a great combination, enough to inspire me to persuade my husband into learning with me. Were on our way to impression everyone, even people who have no idea were studying ballroom dancing, I can’t wait to see the look on their faces.

I have been playing different kinds of music my whole life. I knew that it was going to be something that would be really hard to do, but I also knew that I was going to get better the more often I was able to do that. So, I know that I am going to get some gospel guitar chords. I can’t learn unless I have all the chords to be able to learn, and I know that gospel guitar is something that is a lot better than other things. To learn how to stop nasally singing you need to learn to sign using your diaphragm.  The diaphragm is used when your stomach your chest and your back moves with each sound.  If you are not using these parts of your body to get the tones out, you are probably singing through your nose.  The sound is much more power and solid if you learn to sing using your diaphragm.  You will feel more confident singing this way also.  Signing through your nose is kind of like singing while holding your breath.  Proper posture and breathing methods are required to sing well.  They say that 80% of a good singing voice is proper breathing.  Focus on these points and you will notice a big improvement in your sound.

If you take a singing lesson from any professional vocal coach, they will probably spend a long time teaching you how to sing using your diaphragm. New singers, or amateurs with no training will refrain from using their diaphragm, thinking that their entire voice comes from their lungs and their throat. But, the diaphragm is an integral part in moving the lungs and moving the air past the vocal cords. By learning how to sing in this way – the right way – you will have a more powerful voice, and create a lot less wear and tear on your vocal cords over your years of singing.

The ability sing is something that everyone can achieve. We were all born with these beautiful voices, but only some of us have worked hard enough to perfect them.
